With all the discussion about regenerating moves/mana/hps, as of today a different kind of regeneration code is in, "event based regeneration". This code is courtesy of Whisky.
What it does: Changes Hitpoint, Mana and Move regeneration from happening once every 60 seconds to happening in real time. For example if someone normally gains 60 hitpoints every tick, they will now receive 1 hitpoint every second.
Please test the heck out of this and let's discuss whether or not this is a desirable improvement.

This sounds like a significant and possibly quite interesting change - and it will get away from the slightly unnatural experience with other MUDs where player's get to time some things to happen before or after a TICK. One minor issue might be if the player base gets too big in that one timer based modification to the players' stats every minute takes less CPU effort than one every second, and if it is something that is being reported back to the players by an out-of-band protocol will increase the bandwidth needed. You may find that you have to compromise to, say, updates every 5 seconds.
