Hello everyone! I'm excited to see a MUD based on tbaMUD code about to go live, I wish you all the best and will definitely pop in every now and then One thing I would suggest is looking into MSDP support. It sends "behind-the-scenes" info to MUD clients, like Mudlet which I use. Using the data you can create scripts and triggers and all sorts of nifty things, the most impressive being a graphical user interface. You can add code to tba for things like.. equipment, inventory, affections, map data, sound, music, clickable links... fun! tbaMUD ships with a few default variables already implemented, and I've whipped up a very simple GUI using them: As you can see its very basic, but maybe it will spark some interest and attract talented designers! Cheers, Whisky

Hey Whisky, would you be amenable to writing up instructions how to do this at a "for dummies" level that we could sticky here in the forums? If so, I would also like to add a link back to that post in the new character login as well as the (news). In addition, if you PM me exactly what code changes need to be made to improve such an interface I'd be fully open to reviewing them. This is great stuff and I'd love it if the casual non-coder gamer could use it. Thanks so much!

For sure. Garen gave me some ideas for things to include the other day. You will no doubt be interested to know that Mudlet can download and install your GUI package automatically when a new client connects! It's not something I've done before, so might take a few days to iron out the specifics. Fun

1.) Download this file unearthed.neos.co.nz/AtBMUD.7zThis is a zipped archive, recommend 7zip application which is free to unpack it. 2.) Start MUDLET 3.) Create a new profile 4.) Settings-> General-> Tick Enable MSDP
5.) Browse to your profile folder in Windows Explorer Eg: C:\Users\<your username>\.config\mudlet\profiles\<New Mudlet Profile Name> 6.) Copy the downloaded file from step 1 into this folder 7.) Extract the zip file into this folder, you should have a GUI folder and AtBMUD.XML 8.) In MUDLET, click Package Manager-> Install-> Browse back to the folder from step 5, highlight the AtBMUD.XML file and click ' Open' 9.) Close MUDLET - save the profile when prompted 10.) Restart MUDLET and select your new profile Once logged in, your GUI should populate with data. You can click the character icon in the center to refresh the data being sent, as new code is added to the MUD this will bring more features! Feel free to change and break things, layout, triggers, images, its all yours For help understanding what all the pieces do, the Mudlet forums are a goldmine of information, everything I've done has been taken from there.

FTR The automatic download of a MUD Server GUI in Mudlet is tied (currently) to the ATCP/GMCP out-of-band protocols - something about a message of "Client.GUI\n<URL>" where URL is a link to the file to download. Given that you seem to have GMCP enabled in the screen shot above - are you actually using it?
