The journey begins with four staff members from other long-standing MUDs, plus two professional game developers, over a few weeks of discussion.
April 2016
The Builder Academy is selected as the preferred code base after reviewing available options. Test accounts are created on their site. The source code is downloaded, and configuration begins. Zones 5, 6, and 7 are storyboarded and planned on paper.
May 2016
The God Zone is made as a resource for all Staff members. The following zones begin construction: Caralain Grass, City of Braem, Upper Braem Wood, Lower Braem Wood.
June 2016
*Work continues on building the initial four public areas.
*The Facebook page is created.
*Tar Valon is storyboarded and shared to the Facebook page as followss: "One of the biggest endeavors of the team is writing Tar Valon. Keep in mind, our timeline is at the very beginning, so the island needs to be raw and wild. The Ogier grove there is beautiful, and true to the books the White Tower and the Library will be set out as the Tower separate from the long, low, rectangular library itself. Tar Valon will be three world zones composed of the south side with the Ogier grove, forests, and southharbor at the edge; the middle, which is the White Tower, Library, and grounds; and the north side with a touch more population and civilization before giving way to the forests and then the shoreline for northharbor. The rough sketches of the layout look awesome, but not cumbersome or complicated to learn. Exciting for our future Aes Sedai!"
July 2016
*A 3 hour closed beta was run centered on two zones. Punch lists were created.
*The City of Braem is ripped out and re-started from scratch.
*Outside Builder recruitment begins.
*Blademaster forms are storyboarded and implemented on an NPC.
August 2016
*Work continues, interrupted by various Summer vacations.
September 2016
*Mini-disaster! Corrupted files, data loss, restored all work from prior best backup.
*The palace and grounds for the Capitol of Coremanda, Shaemal, are storyboarded, designed, written, and implemented.
*Hai Caemlyn is designed and storyboarded. Work begins.
*Various connector areas of forest and countryside are designed. Work begins.
October 2016
*Quality check for the initial four zones for spelling, content, etc.
November 2016
*Work continues on existing areas. Over 600 rooms are implemented and joined together by the end of the month.
December 2016
*Design work begins for Manetheren.
In the background the entire time: Coder is coding, Imp and original staff are creating mobs, animals, items, etc. as well as storyboarding potential quests and adventures.
2016 was a really good start.
