Hi everyone,
We've been working behind the curtain on a major change to the game's world and theme. Over the next few weeks you may start to see some of them out in live play.
When ATBmud was first conceptualized there was a team of dedicated Staff who founded it. At the time they wanted to create within the Wheel of Time theme, as they were very accustomed to that world. However over time there has been a shift in available time for the founders to dedicate to the game. Sascha is in and out due to family stuff, and Aviviani has gone back to school to get another degree. That leaves Vivienne, who has created on a Wheel of Time mud for 20 years and is somewhat burned out on the concept. After discussion amongst us we've decided to back off the Wheel of Time theme and switch to Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. We believe that this will allow a broader scope that will appeal not only to us more as creators but also players as a whole.
So if you see some goblins out and about, and some theme changes, don't worry ... think of it as a shift in the Pattern, as we move on to exciting new adventures!

I don't mind for a theme change. The WoT universe is pretty rich but there's heaps of things to do in ADnD. Also if you need any help, I'm more than happy to.

Awesome! I'm coming up for air a bit after being immersed in the background changes. I'm pretty happy with some of the new adventures coming online this week. Feeling good about the change...!

I've been quietly working in the background and I'm happy to say that things are now changing visibly on the player's front end. These changes are happening in gradual steps this week.
I'll post a larger update later explaining the new world changes and the lore behind it, but the summary is this: Back when dinosaurs owned the earth and a group of junior high school kids started playing D&D, they began creating a world. The core of the world is Silverwolf, and that is what I am initially converting the existing world to. As I change it all over I'm updating it from 2nd Edition AD&D to 5th Edition AD&D insofar as stats, etc.
As I update things I'm entering them into the changelog in the game, and also posting them in the forums here, so that there's full transparency. If anyone has suggestions please let me know, but the priorities now are:
1) Change the channeler class to magic user; 2) Review all in-game references to Wheel of Time and adjust them; 3) Review all in-game help files for spells and adjust them.
Since there are 20 zones open averaging 90 rooms each, plus mobs, items, and quests, I'm going to go zone by zone, starting with what was City of Braem (Now Hawk's Gate) as the nexus and then branch out to the connecting zones. As each zone is updated I'll be sure to update the changelog, etc.
Thanks for sticking with me as I get this game world on track with something that excites and entertains me - and if I'm excited and entertained that means that I'm inspired to write cool adventures!
V.
